New 2009 Pontiac G5

Some of the best cars are the ones that stick to the basics and keep it simple.  It’s nice to have options, but sometimes there are too many options that can confuse and disorient the buyer.  The 2009 Pontiac G5 keeps it simple by offering affordability, astonishing fuel economy and blazing style all within two trim levels.

Available exclusively as a compact coupe in two trim levels – base and GT, the G5 is loaded with standard goodies and fun options which aim to please the senses.  Both Coupe and GT feature a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder engine with 155-horsepower.  A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard and a 4-speed automatic transmission is optional.  If you’re looking to save money at the pump, the G5 will alleviate the cost of gas by getting 25 MPG city and 35 MPG highway.  The G5 gets better mileage but less power than the Scion tC and more power, but comparable fuel economy to the Ford Focus. 

Both trim levels offer standard amenities like an AM/FM CD player, iPod® input jack, air conditioning with air filtration system, theft deterrent system, rear spoiler and steel wheels.  The G5 introduces two new colors, Quicksilver Metallic and Silver Green Metallic.

A variety of option packages, interior amenities, and wheel choices help differentiate the two models. An available Personal Audio Link allows full read functionality for personal MP3 players. The optional Sun and Sound Package includes a power sunroof and Pioneer® premium 7-speaker audio system. More powerful audio options include an in-dash six-disc CD changer and MP3 player and XM® satellite radio.

The G5 has a wide range of active safety features available, including optional four-wheel anti-lock brakes and an optional traction control system to minimize wheel spin in slippery conditions or quick takeoffs. Front dual airbags and head-curtain side-impact airbags are standard across the line.  OnStar® service is optional, with available turn-by-turn navigation, 24-hour access to helpful advisors, and automatic crash notification to assist you in a variety of driving situations.
