The Nissan and the Tiguan can accommodate the same number of passengers. The Volkswagen Tiguan is a better choice than the Nissan Xterra when it comes to transporting cargo, especially if you often need to carry a lot of suitcases or dogs. The Xterra outpulls the Volkswagen Tiguan by a large margin.

Performance
When it comes to horsepower, the Nissan Xterra packs quite a wallop and will knock the Tiguan down a few rungs. However, remember that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Dimensions
The Nissan Xterra is substantially heavier than the Tiguan. Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Nissan than the Volkswagen Tiguan because of its larger tank. The Volkswagen Tiguan and the Nissan Xterra compete for the same parking spaces.
