Neither the Suzuki Grand Vitara nor the Nissan Xterra has a marked advantage with respect to seating capacity. Towing is substantially more the Nissan Xterra's forte than it is the Suzuki's.

Performance
With respect to horsepower, the Xterra packs quite a punch and will knock the Suzuki down a few rungs. However, remember that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Dimensions
The Nissan Xterra is substantially heavier than the Suzuki Grand Vitara. Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Nissan than the Suzuki Grand Vitara because of its larger tank. The Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Xterra compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
The Nissan Xterra's fuel tank will need to be replenished slightly more often than the unit in the Suzuki Grand Vitara.
