Nissan Xterra vs. Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Review

Neither the Nissan Xterra nor the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has a marked advantage regarding seating capacity. There's no clear winner between the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and the Nissan Xterra in terms of transporting cargo. Towing is significantly more the Nissan Xterra's forte than it is the Jeep's.

Performance
As far as horsepower, the Nissan Xterra packs quite a wallop and will knock the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited down a few rungs. However, keep in mind that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Dimensions
The Xterra is considerably heavier than the Wrangler Unlimited. The Nissan Xterra's tank is approximately the same size as the Jeep's, though the Wrangler Unlimited's is slightly larger. The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and the Nissan Xterra compete for the same parking spaces. The Nissan Xterra's shorter wheelbase may produce a less-settled highway ride but a more agile feel in daily traffic than the Jeep.

Convenience
You'll most definitely take the Nissan Xterra for a fill-up about as often as the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs approximately the same to get the Wrangler Unlimited to the dealership as the Nissan Xterra. Regarding gas mileage, the Nissan is a tad better than the Jeep, but not by much. Regarding MSRP, the Nissan Xterra doesn't cost much less than the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.

Handling
With its tighter turning circle, the Nissan Xterra is most certainly sprier than the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; however, note that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited's engine is slightly smaller than the Nissan Xterra's, but not terribly so. Torque equals pickup, and the Nissan Xterra will have picked up and gone by the time the Wrangler Unlimited finally gets moving.

Comfort
Taller drivers will substantially enjoy the extra head room in the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited's front cabin compared to the Nissan Xterra. The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited provides more head- and leg-room to your passengers than the Xterra does.

Warranty
The Wrangler Unlimited and the Nissan Xterra have the same basic warranty.
