Nissan Xterra vs. Jeep Wrangler Review

Performance
Regarding horsepower, the Nissan Xterra packs quite a punch and will knock the Jeep down a few rungs. However, remember that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Handling
With their similar turning circles, the Jeep Wrangler and the Nissan Xterra most definitely handle almost the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Jeep's engine is a tad smaller than the Nissan Xterra's, but not terribly so. Torque equals pickup, and the Nissan Xterra will have picked up and gone by the time the Wrangler finally gets moving. Torque is the force that lets you accelerate quickly, and in this respect, the Nissan Xterra is considerably more powerful than the Jeep Wrangler.

Utility
The Nissan will quite certainly prove more convenient than the Jeep for those of you with frequent kid-cargo. There's no clear winner between the Nissan Xterra and the Jeep Wrangler with respect to hauling capacity. Towing is substantially more the Nissan Xterra's forte than it is the Jeep Wrangler's.

Convenience
The Jeep Wrangler's fuel tank will need to be replenished more often than the unit in the Nissan Xterra.

Comfort
Taller drivers will substantially enjoy the extra head room in the Wrangler's front cabin compared to the Xterra. The ampler interior dimensions of the Jeep Wrangler make it considerably more spacious for your passengers than the Nissan Xterra.

Dimensions
The Nissan Xterra is substantially more bulky than the Jeep Wrangler. The Wrangler's tank is about the same size as the Nissan Xterra's, though the Nissan Xterra's is a little bigger. The Jeep and the Nissan Xterra compete for the same parking spaces. The Nissan Xterra's longer wheelbase will likely result in a smoother, more stable ride; on the flip side, the Jeep Wrangler may give a more agile feel in daily traffic.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs about the same to get the Wrangler to the dealership as the Nissan Xterra. With respect to gas mileage, the Nissan Xterra is somewhat better than the Jeep Wrangler, but not by much. The Nissan isn't much pricier than the Jeep Wrangler when it comes to MSRP.

Warranty
The Jeep Wrangler and the Nissan Xterra have the same basic after-sale protection.
