New 2010 Nissan Xterra

Xtreme and rugged, the truck-based 2010 Nissan Xterra midsize SUV appeals to active young off-road enthusiasts.

The 2010 Nissan Xterra is available in four trims: X, S, Off-Road and SE. Enhancements for 2010 include a revised X Gear package, which is now standard on Xterra S and SE models, and the addition of a Technology package—standard on SE and Off-Road models. A 261-horsepower, 4.0-liter DOHC V-6 engine mated to either a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission with a choice of part-time four-wheel drive or two-wheel drive powers all 2010 Nissan Xterra models. The Xterra receives an EPA-estimated 15-16 mpg in the city and 20-21 mpg on the highway.

The 2010 Nissan Xterra competes with the Toyota FJ Cruiser and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. With seating for up to five passengers, the 2010 Nissan Xterra is equipped with a roof rack and a rear bumper design with side steps for easy access to the roof rack. Roof-mounted off-road lights and 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels are standard on Off-Road models. A long wheelbase (106.3 inches) provides a smooth ride and increased interior cargo room (66 cubic feet with rear seats folded). An adjustable channel system located in the cargo floor is available for securing bike racks and other accessories.

SE and Off-Road models include a standard Rockford Fosgate audio system with an in-dash six-CD changer, eight speakers and subwoofer, steering wheel audio controls, XM satellite radio and Bluetooth hands-free phone system.

The 2010 Nissan Xterra is equipped with four-wheel vented disc brakes and an anti-lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution. Other standard safety features include an advanced airbag system featuring dual-stage supplemental front airbags with seat belt and occupant classification sensors, driver and front passenger seat-mounted side-impact supplemental airbags and roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags with rollover sensor.
