2010 Nissan Sentra Overview
Since 1982, the Nissan Sentra compact sedan has been the economical choice for car buyers. The 2010 Nissan Sentra boasts two sporty models that offer added performance and impressive fuel economy for auto enthusiasts. The 2010 Nissan Sentra competes with Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla and is available in 2.0, 2.0 S, 2.0 SR and 2.0 SL trim levels. The 2010 Nissan Sentra is powered by a 140-horsepower, 2.0-liter inline-4 mated to either a six-speed manual or continuously variable automatic transmission or electronic drive-by-wire throttle. For 2010, the base 2.0 model is unavailable with the six-speed manual. EPA estimated fuel economy ratings are an outstanding 21-26 mpg in the city and 28-34 mpg on the highway. For 2010, all Nissan Sentra models get revised headlights and taillights and all but the sporty 2.0 SR receive new grilles and redesigned front ends. Optional equipment includes 16-inch wheels, fog lamps, a power moonroof and power mirrors. On the inside, the Sentra features cupholders that can hold a 32-ounce cup and 20-ounce bottle and a trunk partition that forms two compartments. The Sentra is taller than its competitors, which improves forward visibility and makes it easier to climb in and out of the vehicle. Additional standard features include new cloth seating upholstery, air conditioning and power locks and windows. Cruise control, steering wheel-mounted controls, XM satellite radio and a keyless ignition system are optional equipment. A navigation package includes a five-inch color touch-screen and XM real-time traffic updates. A rearview monitor and 4.3-inch color audio display is also available. The 177-horsepower, 2.5-liter Sentra SE-R and enthusiast-driven 200-horsepower SE-R Spec V sport compact models compete with Mazdaspeed3, Chevrolet Cobalt SS and Honda Civic Si. The Spec V offers a firmer suspension and larger brakes with rear discs. In addition to nose and tail styles and beefier engine options, additional features that distinguish these models from their Sentra counterparts include a standard electronic stability system with traction control, active head restraints, 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels and optional Rockford Fosgate audio system, moonroof, limited-slip differential, rearview monitor and navigation system. Standard safety features include side impact and side curtain airbags. A security system and four-wheel antilock braking system are available. The 2010 Nissan Sentra compact sedan offers above-average fuel efficiency for the economical driver and the sport compact models provide enhanced performance for the enthusiast.
