2014 Nissan NV200 Overview
- Light work van from Nissan
- Four-cylinder engine
- Estimated 24 mpg in the city
The 2014 Nissan NV200 was introduced last year as an alternative to larger, lumbering work vans. Small business owners especially should take note as the NV200 is both more fuel efficient and cost efficient than larger solutions.
Most at home in urban environments thanks to its tight 36.7 foot turning circle, the NV200 offers a payload capacity of 1,500 pounds and useful features like dual sliding doors and 60/40-split rear doors which can open 180-degrees for easier loading and unloading. 15-inch steel wheels are standard, while heated side mirrors and glass windows for the rear doors are optional.
Under the hood, the NV200 utilizes a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that is mated to a continuously variable transmission (Nissan did not offer horsepower figures for the engine). The efficient transmission and the NV200’s smaller size mean it has a large advantage over bigger commercial vans when it comes to fuel economy, checking in at an EPA estimated 24/25 mpg city/highway.
Inside the NV200 makes the most of its space offering a versatile cargo area and a few welcome features up front as well, such as a large center console storage area that can fit a laptop and a passenger seat that folds flat to be used as a table. Behind the front seats is 123 cubic feet of cargo space, with optional mounting points where aftermarket shelving or racks can be installed for better organization. Power windows and locks, cruise control, navigation, and Bluetooth connectivity are also available.
Antilock brakes, side-impact and side curtain airbags, and an electronic stability system are standard. For safer maneuvering in tight spaces, a backup camera is optional.
