The 2014 Nissan NV Cargo NV3500 HD van is a commercial van solution with plenty of convenience features centered on work applications.
The NV3500 is one of three members of Nissan’s lineup of full-size commercial vans, joining the NV 1500 and NV 2500 HD. Each is available as a cargo van, while the 3500 HD is also offered as a 12-seat passenger van (covered separately).
From the outside, the NV series’ hallmark is its boxy style, with very upright sidewalls and a squared off, truck-ish nose. Each of the exterior openings have been designed with ease of access for loading/unloading, including the side passenger sliding door which features a 41.7-inch opening that is wide enough for a forklift to load a pallet in directly. Out back, the two swing-out rear doors swing out to a 90-degree stop, and then can be released to open a full 243-degrees to fully expose the rear cargo opening. 17-inch steel wheels come standard, while chrome bumpers and side mirrors, and privacy glass are optional. The NV3500 is also available in a high-top roof version that adds 21.1 inches of height.
Under the hood, the standard engine is a 317-hp, 5.6-liter V-8 that makes 385 pounds-feet of torque that is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission and takes regular gasoline. For 2014, the V-8 engine adds a few standard mechanical features including a Class IV receiver hitch, seven-pin connector and brake controller pre-wiring, and a heavy-duty battery. Towing capacity maxes out at 9,500 pounds (max payload is 4,022 pounds).
Inside you’ll find seating for two passengers and 234.1 cubic feet of cargo space. In high-roof versions, that becomes 323.1 cubic feet of cargo space, and the roof is high enough for a 6-foot 3-inch person to fully stand up. The cargo area can be turned into a mobile office, workspace, or it can remain an open area for the storage/transport of larger cargo. In fact, the cargo area is large enough to fit two 40x48-inch pallets front to back and there are six floor-mounted D-rings to keep cargo in its place. Up front, a large center console sits between the two seats and is large enough to fit hanging files or hold a laptop. Interior options include cruise control, navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, and a 120-volt outlet.
Standard safety features include front airbags, four-wheel disc antilock brakes, and an electronic stability system.
