Nissan Murano vs. Mercury Mountaineer Review

Handling
With their comparable turning circles, the Mercury Mountaineer and the Murano quite certainly handle almost the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Mountaineer has a larger engine than the Nissan Murano. Note that smaller engines typically get better gas mileage, but smaller engines can be stressed more. Torque is the force that lets you accelerate quickly, and in this respect, the Mercury Mountaineer isn't much more powerful than the Nissan Murano.

Utility
The Mountaineer will quite certainly prove handier than the Nissan Murano for those of you with frequent kid-cargo. Towing is considerably more the Mercury Mountaineer's forte than it is the Nissan's.

Convenience
You'll most definitely take the Mercury Mountaineer for a fill-up almost as often as the Nissan Murano.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Nissan offers a bit more head room than the Mercury Mountaineer, there really isn't much of a difference. The Murano is not particularly roomier for your passengers than the Mercury Mountaineer.

Dimensions
The Mercury is considerably heavier than the Nissan Murano. The Nissan Murano's tank is almost the same size as the Mercury's, though the Mountaineer's is slightly bigger. The Nissan and the Mountaineer compete for the same parking spaces.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs approximately the same to get the Nissan to the dealership as the Mountaineer. The Nissan Murano will save you money at the pump compared to the Mercury Mountaineer. There frankly isn't much of a difference in gas mileage here, but if you must know, the Nissan Murano is a tad more economical than the Mercury Mountaineer. The Mountaineer is considerably more expensive than the Nissan Murano as far as MSRP.
