2008 Nissan Maxima Overview
Once billed as the “four-door sports car” by Nissan, the Maxima was one of the first import sedans to offer robust V6 performance and a 5-speed manual transmission. The 2008 Nissan Maxima has lost the stick shift, but nonetheless offers potent performance and premium accommodations to tantalize buyers. Available in two trim levels – SE and SL – the Maxima touts an award-winning 3.5 liter V6 engine, making 255 horsepower mated to an Xtronic CVT™ (Continuously Variable Transmission) that automatically selects the optimum gear ratios for best performance. The Maxima comes with an impressive array of safety features, including a standard 4-wheel anti-lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution and brake assist, providing short stopping distances and excellent control. Dual front air bags, front side impact airbags, and roof-mounted side curtain airbags protect passengers in the event of a collision. Optional Vehicle Dynamic Control with traction control provides excellent on-road handling and minimal wheel spin during evasive maneuvers. Interior amenities create a very luxurious environment. An available digital Bose® audio system includes an in-dash 6-CD changer, MP3/WMA playback capability, eight speakers, and XM® Satellite Radio for a powerful sonic experience. Heated front seats are available, and an 8-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support comes standard. A dual-zone automatic temperature control system with in-cabin microfilter and rear vents will surely please front and back seat occupants. The available Nissan Navigation System with GPS DVD-Rom atlas and 7” color monitor will expertly guide you on your journey. The intelligent key keyless entry and ignition system makes it fun and easy to start the Maxima remotely. Either trim level can be ordered with the Platinum Edition Package, which adds high-intensity bi-xenon headlights for improved nighttime visibility, Bluetooth® hands-free phone system, a rear sonar system for easy parking maneuvers, heated steering wheel, driver’s seat memory system, and power tilt and telescoping steering column. No longer the raucous sports sedan of its youth, the 2008 Nissan Maxima combines exquisite interior appointments with a refined ride and smooth V6 power to capture a share of the upscale entry-level luxury sedan market. |
