2012 Nissan Maxima Overview
The Nissan Maxima is back for more in 2012, and this “four-door sports car” has new interior features and a new exterior design. Competitors include other sedans such as the Dodge Charger, Ford Taurus, and Honda Accord.
If you’re looking for a combination of performance and sedan utility, the Maxima remains one of the best cars for having fun and still being able to haul the family around. Under the hood, you’ll find a 290-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 engine with 261 pounds-feet of torque, which is mated to a two-speed CVT with overdrive and auto-manual (paddle-shifters optional). These are the exact same engine and transmission options as the previous model year.
Fuel economy is also unchanged, at 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. These are decent ratings, especially for a V-6 engine of that strength and size, but keep in mind that the Maxima was designed with performance rather than efficiency in mind.
Nissan made some slight changes to the design of the Maxima, giving it a new grille, taillights, and aluminum-alloy wheels. The wavy design of the Maxima holds up well, with a welcome hint of aggression when compared to other sedans. 18-inch wheels are standard and the Sport Package will get you 19-inch wheels. A Limited Edition Package will get you a dark hyper sliver finish for your wheels, a dark-finish sport grille, smoked HID xenon headlights, fog lights, a rear spoiler, and metallic trim.
The Maxima comes with a well-appointed and equipped interior. Standard features include Bluetooth® hands-free technology, cruise control with illuminated, wheel-mounted controls, Nissan Intelligent Key® with push button ignition, and a leather-wrapped shift knob. Optional metallic and Atlantic Cherry wood-tone trims let you customize the feel and look of the cabin. Other optional features include a navigation system with voice recognition, a rear-view camera, heated front seats, leather upholstery, and a driver memory system.
The Maxima has six standard airbags and LATCH child seating for drivers with children. Other standard safety features include traction control, active head-restraints, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
The 2012 Nissan Maxima continues to offer power, efficiency, and great interior features, making it a great sedan all-around.

T had a 2003 Maxima and purchased a 2011 Maxima a year ago. The car is very reliable, which is why I purchased another one. The one drawback is that the radio does not perform as advertised in the owner's manual. It should, with the pressing of a button on the steering wheel, go from cd to am to fm1, then fm2, but will only go to the last fm band that was on, not the other one. After a long go around with a Nissan rep, he couldn't explain it either. He just said the manual was incorrect. No kidding. And I waited 2 weeks for his phone call! The ride seems a little harsh, but with the way this car handles, that is a small price to pay.

My Previous car was a 2001 Maxima 136000 miles
no mechanicals problems . this new Maxima is very quite and Great performance .
Downside use premium gas !
