Nissan Frontier vs. Ford Explorer Sport Trac Review

Utility
There's no clear winner between the Ford Explorer Sport Trac and the Nissan Frontier as far as hauling capacity. The Nissan Frontier and the Ford Explorer Sport Trac can accommodate the same number of passengers. The Ford Explorer Sport Trac is a better choice than the Nissan Frontier regarding transporting cargo, especially if you frequently need to carry a lot of suitcases or animals. The Ford Explorer Sport Trac outpulls the Nissan by a massive margin.

Dimensions
The Ford is considerably more bulky than the Nissan Frontier. The Nissan Frontier's tank is roughly the same size as the Ford Explorer Sport Trac's, though the Ford Explorer Sport Trac's is slightly larger. The Nissan Frontier and the Ford compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
The Frontier's fuel tank will need to be replenished a little more often than the unit in the Ford.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs about the same to get the Nissan Frontier to the dealership as the Ford. There really isn't much of a difference in gas mileage here, but if you must know, the Nissan Frontier is a little more economical than the Ford Explorer Sport Trac. The Ford won't save you much money at the pump compared to the Frontier. Regarding MSRP, the Nissan Frontier costs considerably less than the Ford Explorer Sport Trac.

Handling
With its tighter turning circle, the Explorer Sport Trac is most certainly nimbler than the Nissan Frontier, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the flip side, note that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Nissan Frontier's engine is tremendously smaller than the Ford Explorer Sport Trac's. Note that smaller engines can be stressed more; on the flip side, smaller engines typically get better gas mileage. Torque equals pickup, and the Explorer Sport Trac will have picked up and gone by the time the Frontier finally gets moving. The Nissan Frontier could learn a lesson or two from the Ford Explorer Sport Trac regarding torque.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Ford Explorer Sport Trac offers a bit more head room than the Nissan, there really isn't much of a difference. The ampler interior dimensions of the Ford Explorer Sport Trac make it more spacious for your passengers than the Nissan Frontier.

Warranty
The Ford Explorer Sport Trac and the Nissan Frontier have the same basic after-sale protection.
