2009 Nissan Frontier Overview
If you’re thinking of getting a trunk because you need the power, towing capacity, rugged off-roading capability and utility, you will be very interested in the 2009 Nissan Frontier.
The Frontier is available in two versions: the normal King Cab and spacious Crew Cab. The King Cab is available in the base XE trim, while both are available in SE, PRO-4X and LE trims. The King Cab features rear doors for a second row of seating for two. The Crew Cab has full rear doors that open on a second row 60/40 bench with storage under the seats, and fits five passengers. Both versions offer a 2.5-liter, 152-horsepower I-4, or a 4.0-liter, 261-horsepower V-6 engine mated to either a five-speed automatic or manual, or six-speed manual transmission. The Frontier gets average fuel economy with 15-19 MPG in the city and 19-23 MPG on the highway, and competes with the Suzuki Equator and Toyota Tacoma.
That’s great, but can the Frontier do what you will need a truck to do? The PRO-4X Crew Cab offers a V-6 engine with a front tow hook, 16-inch alloy wheels, Utili-track Channel System and factory-applied spray-on bedliner with bed rail caps. The Bilstein® off-road performance shocks, electronic locking rear differential, 2- or 4-wheel Limited Slip, and BFGoodrich® Rugged Trail T/A® tires add to the Frontier’s unsurpassed utility. The King Cab can tow up to 6,500 pounds with a 1,547-pound maximum payload. The Crew Cab can tow up to 6,300 pounds with a 1,437 maximum pound payload.
An available Rockford Fosgate-powered audio system features 10 speakers, two subwoofers, and an in-dash CD changer that stores up to six MP3/WMA-encoded CDs. XM Satellite Radio, an auxiliary input jack and Bluetooth connectivity round out the refined interior.
When it comes to safety, the Frontier exceeds expectations. Nissan’s Advanced Air Bag System with dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt sensors and occupant-classification sensor, driver and front-passenger seat-mounted side-impact supplemental air bags and roof-mounted curtain supplemental air bags keep you in place in case of a collision. Traction control, an electronic stability system, Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist all do their part to keep you and yours safe.
