2010 Nissan Altima Overview
Power, style, roominess and efficiency are images the 2010 Nissan Altima conjures up.
Available in coupe and sedan platforms, the 2010 Nissan Altima is powered by a 175-horsepower, 2.5-liter inline-four engine or a 270-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6. Both engines are mated to Nissan’s Xtronic continuously variable transmission for smooth, seamless driving and enhanced fuel economy; a six-speed manual is available on the coupe. Speaking of fuel economy, the Altima achieves 18-23 mpg city and 27-32 mpg highway ratings. Fuel economy is superior to the Honda Accord, while power is competitive with the Accord and Toyota Camry. If those fuel estimates don’t move you, the super fuel-efficient Altima Hybrid is sure to impress.
For 2010, the Altima sedan’s interior gets some updates including revised fabrics and finishing trim pieces. A new Bose® upgrade audio system features a 4.3-inch color display screen, a USB port for portable media device connectivity, XM Satellite Radio and a CD player. This package also gets wrapped up with Bluetooth connectivity, and the display screen also works for the rearview camera. The available Nissan Navigation System features a 6.5-inch display screen, and can be paired with XM NavTraffic and XM NavWeather for the ultimate infotainment experience. The navigation system also has an RCA port for audio/video input – good luck finding that on another car.
Additional luxury comes with a power sliding moonroof and dual zone climate control, available in the Altima 2.5 S sedan, the Convenience Plus Package and the Altima 3.5 SR sedan with the Sport Package. Additional fun comes standard on the 3.5 SR, as it rides on a sport-tuned suspension package. The base 2.5 model Altima sedan caters to the more cost-conscious buyer, and all models include a slick push-button start feature.
To keep you safe, the 2010 Nissan Altima is equipped with dual front, dual front-side and two-row curtain airbags, as well as active front head restrains. The Altima sedan receives Five-Star ratings in NHTSA front impact tests, while the coupe gets Four-Star ratings up front and Five-Star ratings on the side. To avoid accidents, the Altima is equipped with antilock brakes, Nissan’s Vehicle Dynamic Control and Traction Control System.
Get in, sit down – pause to admire the quality amenities – then buckle up and hold on: the 2010 Nissan Altima knows how to move.
