2009 Nissan Altima Hybrid Overview
When it comes to surprising power and excellent fuel economy, it is nearly impossible to beat the 2009 Nissan Altima Hybrid. The heart of the Altima Hybrid is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine that yields 158-horsepower and is mated to a 650-volt electric motor, producing a net system power of 198-horsepower for swift acceleration. The system is mated to an electronically-controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (eCVT) that offers a variety of gear ratios and smooth shifting to extract the best performance and fuel economy from the hybrid system. As a result, the Altima Hybrid is classified as an Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emission Vehicle and achieves fuel economy ratings of 35 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway. The Altima Hybrid has the third best city mileage of any vehicle behind the Toyota Prius and Honda Civic Hybrid. However, the Altima Hybrid has more power than both and emits a paltry 5.4 metric tons of carbon dioxide. Compare that to the 7.1-8.7 metric tons that the regular Altima emits and you will realize that you are saving much more than money at the pump. Oh yeah, if you purchase a 2009 Nissan Altima Hybrid, you qualify for federal tax credits in the amount of $2,350. Not a tax write-off, a tax credit. That’s up to $2,350 in your pocket. Available in the 3.5 SE and the 3.5 SL trims, the Altima Hybrid has several amenities. Inside the cabin, the Altima Hybrid has an Energy flow monitor and energy/fuel history monitor that lets the driver see the vehicle’s fuel consumption and battery life. An available Digital Bose® audio system with an AM/FM in-dash 6-CD changer, nine speakers, MP3/WMA CD playback capability, and XM® Satellite Radio make for an immersive audio experience. The optional Nissan Navigation System features a DVD atlas of maps, a 6.5-inch LCD touch-screen monitor, and voice recognition to help guide your way. Standard Dual Zone Automatic Temperature control features a microfilter and individual settings for driver and front passenger to offer excellent comfort and a healthy cabin environment. An excellent array of safety features includes a 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution that supplies excellent stopping power and minimizes wheel lockup during hard braking. Standard dual front airbags, dual seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and front/rear roof-mounted side curtain airbags offer excellent passenger protection in a collision. Standard Vehicle Dynamic Control and the Traction Control System help to stabilize the vehicle during evasive maneuvers and minimize wheel spin on slippery surfaces. Save money on fuel, save the environment, get a tax credit and nearly 200-horsepower with the 2009 Nissan Altima Hybrid. Please note that the Altima Hybrid is available only in California, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Service of hybrid components outside those states is limited and could involve a delay of some days.
