2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Exterior

2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Overview (See Available Styles)

The Sport model is the junior size Outlander crossover with seating for five. For 2013, Mitsubishi updated its best-selling model with new exterior design elements, improved interior materials, sound insulation and audio system, revised rear suspension and a better continuously variable transmission (CVT). Mitsubishi offers the Outlander Sport in two trim levels (ES and SE) with front- or all-wheel drive (AWD).

Exterior features include a new front bumper, grille and fog light design, new rear bumper, new side sills in black to match the lower sections of the new bumpers, and standard 18-inch alloy wheels for both models. Heated, power side view mirrors are also standard, as is a rear spoiler. Rain-sensing windshield wipers, high-intensity discharge headlights, and chrome fog light trim.

For propulsion in the Outlander Sport, Mitsubishi uses its 148-horsepower, 2.0-liter, inline-four cylinder engine developing 145 pounds feet of torque and mated to either a five-speed manual transmission or the CVT. With the CVT and front-wheel drive, the Outlander Sport checks in 24 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. Swapping the CVT for the five-speed manual, the Sport returns 24/30 mpg city/highway. The all-wheel drive CVT version gets 24 mpg/city 29 mpg/highway.

Mitsubishi cites several changes to the 2013 Outlander Sport’s interior, including materials with lower levels of volatile organic compounds, along with new fabrics, better noise insulation, and new speakers for the premium audio system. Among the standard features are a 60/40-split folding rear seat, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, voice-activated mobile phone and iPod control, and steering-wheel mounted audio controls. The SE adds smart key and push-button start, heated front seats, premium audio system, and automatic climate control.

The 2013 Outlander Sport’s standard safety features include stability and traction control, antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and emergency braking assist, active front headrests, and hill start assist. There are seven standard airbags: front dual-stage, front-side impact, side-curtains with rollover sensor and driver’s knee.
