MINI Cooper vs. BMW Z4 Review

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. The MINI Cooper is considerably cheaper to get to the dealership than the BMW Z4. The Cooper will save you money at the pump compared to the Z4. The BMW Z4 will tax your gasoline budget quite a bit more than the MINI Cooper will. The BMW Z4 guzzles a lot of gasoline compared to the MINI Cooper. The BMW Z4 is tremendously costlier than the MINI Cooper as far as MSRP. Regarding out-the-door cost, the Cooper costs tremendously less than the BMW Z4.

Utility
Drivers with frequent child-duty might favor the MINI Cooper over the Z4.

Convenience
The BMW's fuel tank will need to be replenished a little more often than the unit in the MINI Cooper. You'll most definitely take the Z4 for a fill-up roughly as often as the MINI.

Comfort
Taller drivers will significantly enjoy the extra head room in the MINI Cooper's front cabin compared to the BMW Z4.

Dimensions
The BMW Z4 is markedly heavier than the MINI Cooper. The MINI Cooper's tank is about the same size as the BMW Z4's, though the BMW Z4's is slightly bigger. The MINI Cooper and the Z4 compete for the same parking spaces.

Performance
In terms of horsepower, the BMW Z4 packs quite a wallop and will knock the MINI down a few rungs. However, remember that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums. The MINI Cooper is likely to feel a bit sluggish because of its high horsepower-to-weight ratio compared to the BMW Z4. With its super low horsepower-to-weight ratio, the BMW will knock you back into your seat when you accelerate.

Handling
With its front-wheel drive layout, the MINI Cooper likely has better traction in rain, snow or ice than the BMW Z4; however, the BMW Z4's rear-wheel drive layout likely provides better weight distribution. Really small tires, like the ones on the MINI Cooper, might provide better handling in deep snow but might also look a little odd. With their similar turning circles, the BMW Z4 and the MINI Cooper definitely handle about the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The MINI Cooper's engine is tremendously smaller than the Z4's. Remember that smaller engines can be stressed more; however, smaller engines are often cheaper to fix. Torque equals pickup, and the BMW Z4 will have picked up and gone by the time the MINI Cooper finally gets moving. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the BMW Z4 is tremendously more powerful than the Cooper.

Overview
The BMW Z4 and the MINI Cooper have the same basic warranty.
