With their similar turning radii, the Mercury Mountaineer and the Volvo XC60 most certainly handle about the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Volvo XC60's engine is significantly smaller than the Mercury Mountaineer's. Note that a smaller engine usually has to work a little harder; on the other hand, smaller engines are often cheaper to fix. Torque equals pickup, and the Volvo XC60 will have picked up and gone by the time the Mercury Mountaineer finally gets moving. The Mercury Mountaineer could learn a lesson or two from the Volvo XC60 as far as pickup.

Utility
Drivers with frequent kid-duty might favor the Mercury Mountaineer over the Volvo XC60. The Mountaineer outpulls the Volvo XC60 by a large margin.

The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs almost the same to get the Mercury Mountaineer to the dealership as the Volvo XC60. When it comes to gas mileage, the Volvo XC60 beats the Mercury Mountaineer. With respect to fuel economy, the Volvo XC60 and the Mercury don't differ much. As far as MSRP, the XC60 doesn't cost much less than the Mercury Mountaineer.
