2008 Mercury Milan Overview
The four-door, five-passenger 2008 Mercury Milan midsize sedan shares the same platform, drivetrains, and engines as the Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ, offering its own unique styling and the addition of the innovative SYNC communications system this year. Available in two trim levels – the base Milan and the upscale Premier – the Milan features a choice of economical, powerful engines. The standard 2.3 liter inline 4-cylinder makes 160 horsepower, which supplies adequate acceleration with a crisp 5-speed manual transmission or optional smooth-shifting 5-speed automatic. The optional 3.0 liter V6 provides a robust 221 horsepower mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, which motivates the car with authority. All models have standard front-wheel drive, while V6 models offer optional all-wheel drive for superior traction and handling in adverse weather and road conditions. The standard double-wishbone front suspension keeps body roll to a minimum and supplies tight, controlled handling. Standard 4-wheel disc anti-lock brakes prevent wheel lockup and shorten stopping distances. The optional Traction Control system helps minimize wheel spin during takeoffs in slippery conditions. Six standard airbags protect passengers in the event of a collision, including dual front, seat-mounted side impact, and side curtain airbags in both rows. The new Reverse Sensing System uses ultrasonic waves to help you parallel park in tight spaces. New advanced technology features include the SYNC integrated, voice-activated communication and media system, allowing you to access your digital music collection and operate your Bluetooth® phone with simple voice commands. The optional voice-activated DVD-based navigation system has a 6.5” color LCD monitor, turn-by-turn directions, and comprehensive maps and menus. The MP3 audio input jack lets you channel your music via your iPod® through the car’s speakers. The new, available Moon & Tune package combines a power moonroof with a high-fidelity Audiophile® sound system with in-dash, 6-disc CD changer, MP3 capability, and eight speakers for authentic sound reproduction. Offering innovative new technology, ample power, and sophisticated styling, the 2008 Mercury Milan is a strong player in the competitive midsize sedan segment. |
