2010 Mercury Mariner Overview
You don’t have to be a sailor to enjoy the 2010 Mercury Mariner compact SUV, which receives upgrades that improve safety and add convenience to any voyage. The 2010 Mercury Mariner is powered by either a 171-horsepower, 2.5-liter I-4 engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission or a 240-horsepower, 3.0-liter V-6 mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and is available in either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. One of its best attributes is highway fuel efficiency, which is EPA rated between 24-28 mpg. Also available in a hybrid version, the 2010 Mercury Mariner’s refined aerodynamics and low-rolling-resistance tires only enhance fuel economy. When properly equipped, the 2010 Mercury Mariner can tow up to 3,500 lbs. and with the rear seat folded down, the SUV offers 66 cubic feet of cargo room. Like its sibling Ford Escape, the Mercury Mariner was one of the first Ford vehicles to feature SYNC with traffic, directions and information voice-recognition software, which helps you to reduce distractions while accessing route and traffic information. New for 2010, integrated spotter mirrors eliminate the driver’s blind spot providing you with a broader peripheral view. An available rear view camera system enhances visibility directly behind the vehicle when it is in reverse. A new active park assist system uses sensors on the front and rear of the vehicle, working in conjunction with electric power assist steering (EPAS), to guide the vehicle into a parking space. Standard safety features include an anti-lock brake system and Ford’s AdvanceTrac with roll stability control (RSC), which utilizes a roll rate sensor to detect roll angle and will apply the brakes to one or more wheels or reduce engine power to counter a potential rollover. The MyKey system enables you to limit speed and audio controls for your teenage drivers. The 2010 Mercury Mariner is also equipped with safety canopy side air curtain technology, which protects the first and second seating rows. The personal safety system includes dual-stage front airbags for the driver and front-seat passenger, side airbags and a front passenger sensor system. Competing against Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and Chevrolet Equinox, The 2010 Mercury Mariner’s highlights include strong fuel economy ratings and premium safety features starting at an affordable price.
