2010 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class Overview
Nearing its first decade in existence, the 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class small luxury convertible roadster offers the ultimate in sports car performance and handling. One of the first vehicles to sport a power retractable hardtop, the 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class is available in SLK300, SLK350 and SLK55 AMG trim levels and three engine choices. The SLK300 is equipped with a 228-horsepower, 3.0-liter V-6 mated to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmission with auto-manual mode. The SLK350 receives a 300-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 and the SLK55 AMG is powered by a hefty 355-horsepower, 5.4-liter V-8; both are coupled to a seven-speed automatic. In terms of efficiency, the 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class excels in highway driving with EPA estimated fuel economy ratings ranging between 14-19 mpg in the city and 22-26 mpg on the highway. The Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class competes with BMW Z4 and Audi TT and, new for 2010, a limited-edition SLK300 Diamond White Edition featuring a sport suspension and 18-inch AMG wheels is being offered, as well as a premium leather interior for all models. Sitting on either 17- or 18-inch wheels, exterior features include a power retractable hardtop that opens and closes in just 22 seconds and an available wind blocker. Even with the top retracted there is still 6.5 cubic feet of trunk volume. Inside, the two-seat 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class features the COMAND system, which controls navigation, entertainment and climate settings, and remote window and roof controls. Other comfort and convenience amenities include the Airscarf system, which is located in the headrests and blows warm air on your neck and shoulders. This feature creates the illusion that you’re cruising with the top down when the weather outside is not conducive for going topless. Voice-activated air conditioning and an 11-speaker premium sound system are also available. Standard safety technologies include all-disc antilock brakes with brake assist, side-impact airbags, an electronic stability system and enhanced tire pressure monitoring system. With three powerful engine options, the sporty Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class small luxury convertible roadster is stylishly sexy, loaded with interior technology and fuel efficient in highway driving.
