2010 Mercedes-Benz M-Class Overview
The 2010 Mercedes-Benz M-Class luxury SUV underwent interior and exterior styling changes in 2009, and for 2010, a hybrid version was introduced—the ML450.
The 2010 Mercedes-Benz M-Class competes against the Audi Q7, BMW X5 and Land Rover LR4 and offers four trim levels and engine choices. The ML350 is equipped with a 268-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 and the ML550 is equipped with a 382-horsepower V-8. The ML63 AMG has a 503-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8 and the ML350 Blutec diesel, which is clean enough to be sold in all 50 states, is equipped with a 210-horsepower, 3.0-liter V-6. All engines are mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission and the ML350 is available in rear-wheel drive while all other models feature a 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. When properly equipped, the 2010 Mercedes-Benz M-Class can tow up to 7,200 lbs.
The brand-new ML450 Hybrid is the most efficient M-Class available, able to achieve an EPA-estimated 21 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. A 275-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 engine powers the ML450 Hybrid, along with two electric motors, which brings total output to 335 horsepower. The gasoline engine actually shuts off when the vehicle comes to a complete stop and starts again under acceleration. Regenerative braking enables the ML450 Hybrid to recharge the vehicle’s battery system.
The 2010 Mercedes-Benz M-Class seats up to five passengers and maximum cargo volume is 72.4 cubic feet with 60/40-split rear seats folded flat. Standard exterior features include roof rails, dual exhaust outlets and 19-inch wheels. A backseat entertainment system with two screens will keep the kids occupied, while the optional Harmon Kardon audio system will engulf you in rich, soothing sound. Optional features include the recently upgraded COMAND interface, which controls the navigation system and audio controls
Standard safety features include four-wheel-disc antilock brakes, an electronic stability system, an advanced airbag system and PreSafe, which fastens the front seat belts and closes the windows in case of an accident.
If you’re looking for a roomy luxury SUV with towing capability and a plethora of engine options, from gasoline to clean diesel to hybrid power, the 2010 Mercedes M-Class is everything you need it to be.
