2013 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class Overview
Packing S-Class luxury into a stylish coupe package, the 2013 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class offers an excess of both amenities and looks in a tidy package with a decidedly un-tidy price tag.
The CL-Class is offered in four model variants: CL550 with all-wheel drive, the V-12-powered CL600, and as two AMG models. For 2013, the CL-Class adds a new Grand Edition Package which offers three unique exterior paint colors and three unique interior treatments as well.
Though the CL only has two doors it’s by no means a small car. Nose to tail, it measures 200-inches which makes it over 16-feet long. Standard exterior features include dual stainless steel exhausts with chrome tailpipe finish, a power moonroof, 18-inch wheels, power-closing trunk lid, and bi-xenon headlights with washers. 19- and 20-inch wheels are optional, as is an AMG Sport Package which adds front/rear aprons, side skirts and 20-inch wheels.
Under the Hood, the CL-Class variants each get their own powertrain. The CL550 4Matic has a 429-horsepower, twin-turbo 4.6-liter V-8 with 516 pounds-feet of torque, while the CL600 has a 510-hp, twin-turbo 5.5-liter V-12 with 612 pounds-feet of torque. The AMG variants are even more bonkers. CL63 AMG models feature a 536-hp, twin-turbo 5.5-liter V-8 with 590 pounds-feet of torque and stop/start technology. The CL65 AMG has a 621-hp, twin-turbo 6.0-liter V-12 that makes all the torque.
Inside you’ll find seating for four passengers with rear bucket seats instead of a rear bench. The power-adjustable front seats feature standard heating and ventilation, while active massaging is optional. Standard interior features include Mercedes’ mbrace2 communication system, Comand multimedia system, and 600-watt 11 speaker Harman Kardon stereo. Optional are a heated-steering wheel, Splitview front-seat entertainment system, and backup camera.
Safety features include side-impact airbags for both rows of seats, side curtain airbags, antilock brakes, electronic stability system, automated collision-mitigation braking system, and an Attention Assist system that notifies drivers when they need a break, based on behavioral changes. Further safety options include adaptive cruise control which adjusts speed automatically to maintain a preset following distance, a blind spot warning system and Parking Guidance, which assists in parallel-parking maneuvers.
