2008 Mazda Tribute Hybrid Overview
Brand-new interior and exterior styling and a plethora of new features highlight the 2008 Mazda Tribute Hybrid. The perfect combination of SUV flexibility and hybrid technology – it’s available in front- or all-wheel drive and very limited production. For 2008, there will be only 350 vehicles available exclusively in California. The Tribute Hybrid is available in two trim levels – Touring and Grand Touring – that both feature an advanced hybrid powertrain. The gasoline/electric hybrid system features a compact electric motor that powers the vehicle up to 25 mph without using the gas engine – perfect for short trips or stop-and-go commutes. The 2.3 liter 4-cylinder gas engine uses an advanced combustion system to maximize power and efficiency, and achieves zero evaporative emissions standards. The regenerative braking system recharges the battery pack each time you brake, so it never needs to be plugged in. The Vehicle System Controller utilizes advanced software to ensure a smooth transition between the electric motor and gasoline engine. The electronically controlled, continuously variable transmission transfers power to the wheels seamlessly, with no noticeable shift points. Fuel economy is stellar for a compact SUV – with an estimated 34/30 city/highway MPG in 2-wheel drive models. Standard 2-wheel drive is adequate for most on-road situations, while the optional Electronic 4-wheel drive system offers confidence, traction, and enhanced off-road capability. Cargo space is quite generous, with 66.3 cubic feet of cargo space available with the rear seats folded. New interior features include an optional Navigation System with DVD mapping, global positioning, and a 6.5” color LCD screen for touch-screen simplicity. Standard safety features include 4-wheel anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution to help maintain steering control while braking and prevent wheel lockup. Standard dual front airbags, front-seat side airbags, and side curtain airbags with rollover sensor protect both rows of passengers in a collision. The standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System constantly monitors tire pressure and alerts the driver to any significant changes. For a select group of lucky buyers in California, the 2008 Mazda Tribute Hybrid offers excellent fuel economy, super low emissions, and beautiful new styling. |
