Neither the Mazda MAZDA6 nor the Volkswagen Passat has a marked advantage with respect to seating capacity.

Dimensions
The Volkswagen Passat is a little heavier than the Mazda MAZDA6. The MAZDA6's tank is approximately the same size as the Volkswagen Passat's, though the Passat's is slightly larger. The Mazda and the Volkswagen Passat compete for the same parking spaces.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs about the same to get the Mazda to the dealership as the Volkswagen. The Volkswagen isn't much more expensive than the Mazda MAZDA6 with respect to MSRP.

Handling
With their comparable turning radii, the Volkswagen and the Mazda MAZDA6 quite certainly handle roughly the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The MAZDA6's engine is markedly larger than the Volkswagen Passat's. Remember that larger engines may use more gasoline than smaller ones. The Mazda MAZDA6 has no lessons to learn as far as torque from the Volkswagen Passat. Torque is the force that lets you accelerate quickly, and in this respect, the Volkswagen isn't much more powerful than the Mazda.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Mazda MAZDA6 offers a bit more head room than the Volkswagen, there frankly isn't much of a difference. While the rear of the Volkswagen Passat provides a bit more head- and leg-room than the MAZDA6, there really isn't much of a difference.
