Neither the Mazda MAZDA6 nor the Impreza has a marked advantage with respect to seating capacity.

Dimensions
The Mazda is slightly heavier than the Subaru Impreza. The Subaru Impreza's tank is approximately the same size as the MAZDA6's, though the Mazda MAZDA6's is a tad bigger. The Subaru Impreza rides lower than the Mazda, which is a good thing for its center of gravity and ease of access. The Subaru Impreza and the Mazda MAZDA6 compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
The Subaru Impreza's fuel tank will need to be replenished a little more often than the unit in the Mazda MAZDA6.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs roughly the same to get the Mazda MAZDA6 to the dealership as the Subaru Impreza. Regarding fuel economy, the Impreza is a little better than the Mazda MAZDA6, but not by much. Regarding gas mileage, the Mazda MAZDA6 and the Subaru Impreza don't differ much. As far as MSRP, the Subaru Impreza doesn't cost much less than the Mazda MAZDA6. As far as final cost, the Subaru Impreza doesn't cost much less than the MAZDA6.

Handling
With its tighter turning radius, the Subaru Impreza is quite certainly more maneuverable than the Mazda MAZDA6, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the other hand, keep in mind that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Mazda MAZDA6's engine is significantly more massive than the Subaru's. Remember that larger engines may use more gasoline than smaller ones. Torque equals pickup, and the Impreza will have picked up and gone by the time the Mazda MAZDA6 finally gets moving. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the Subaru Impreza is considerably more powerful than the Mazda MAZDA6.

Comfort
Taller drivers will considerably enjoy the extra head room in the Subaru's front cabin compared to the Mazda MAZDA6. The MAZDA6 provides more head- and leg-room to your passengers than the Subaru Impreza does.
