2009 Mazda MAZDA6 Overview
In order to compete in the busy midsize market, the freshly redesigned Mazda6 raises the bar with impressive fuel economy, interior space, cutting-edge technology, robust power and sophisticated design.

Say goodbye to the hatchback and wagon versions and hello to new transmissions and tech features. The folks at Mazda abandoned the traditional design and have established “Japanese aesthetic”, which features a longer hood and pronounced front fender flares. The Mazda 6 comes in either ‘i’ or ‘s’ trim levels in Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring variations. Both engines feature increased power for 2009. ‘i’ models feature a 2.5-liter, 170-horsepower DOHC 4-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Timing and can be paired with a standard 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission with manual mode. ‘s’ models feature a 3.7-liter, 272-horsepower V-6 engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift mode for quick gear changes. The Mazda6 is comparable in power and fuel economy to the Honda Accord and Chevy Malibu.

Fuel economy is taken seriously and the Mazda6 gets 17-21 MPG in the city and 25-30 MPG on the highway. Speaking of highway traveling, the Mazda6 can get to San Francisco to Los Angeles, or from Boston to Philadelphia on tank of gas. Not only can you get there on one tank of gas, but in a larger, more comfortable car. Expect more leg room for your family and more trunk space with a rear folding seats for all types of luggage.

Standard safety features include power-assisted 4-wheel disc brakes with an Anti-lock Braking System and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution for enhanced stopping power and minimal wheel lockup. The standard Traction Control System offers excellent traction and limits wheelspin on slippery roads. Dual front airbags, front seat-mounted side impact airbags and front/rear side curtain airbags help protect passengers in a collision.

Not only does the Mazda6 astound on the exterior, but it amazes on the inside. An available push-button ignition, power moonroof, trip computer, heated, leather-trimmed front seats with an 8-way power driver’s seat, Bose® 10-speaker sound system with in-dash 6-disc CD changer emanate luxury . The optional voice-activated Navigation System features a retractable 7-inch display with real-time mapping, directions, trip information, and audio/climate controls. Available automatic climate control, with air conditioning and pollen filter, creates a comfortable and clean cabin environment.

The freshly redesigned 2009 Mazda6 got it right by adding exterior, interior and powertrain enhancements to turn an average midsize sedan into an affordable luxury head-turner.
