Handling
With their comparable turning radii, the Mitsubishi Lancer and the Mazda MAZDA3 quite certainly handle almost the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the Mitsubishi Lancer isn't much more powerful than the Mazda MAZDA3. The Mazda MAZDA3 has no lessons to learn when it comes to torque from the Mitsubishi Lancer.

Utility
Neither the Lancer nor the Mazda MAZDA3 has a marked advantage with respect to seating capacity.

Convenience
The Mitsubishi Lancer's fuel tank will need to be replenished a tad more often than the unit in the Mazda MAZDA3.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Mitsubishi Lancer offers a bit more head room than the MAZDA3, there really isn't much of a difference. While the rear of the Mazda provides a bit more head- and leg-room than the Lancer, there honestly isn't much of a difference.

Dimensions
The Mitsubishi's tank is about the same size as the Mazda MAZDA3's, though the Mazda MAZDA3's is somewhat bigger. The Mitsubishi Lancer and the Mazda MAZDA3 compete for the same parking spaces.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs almost the same to get the Mitsubishi Lancer to the dealership as the Mazda. As far as fuel economy, the Mazda MAZDA3 and the Mitsubishi Lancer don't differ much. The Mitsubishi Lancer won't tax your gas budget considerably more than the Mazda MAZDA3 will. The Lancer isn't much less pricey than the Mazda MAZDA3 when it comes to MSRP.

Warranty
The basic after-sale protection that comes with the Mazda MAZDA3 isn't quite as generous as the Mitsubishi Lancer's.
