As far as horsepower, the Mazda MAZDA3 packs quite a wallop and will knock the Kia Rio down a few rungs. On the other hand, keep in mind that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Dimensions
Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Mazda MAZDA3 than the Kia Rio because of its bigger tank. The Kia Rio and the Mazda MAZDA3 compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
You'll likely take the Kia Rio for a fill-up about as often as the Mazda MAZDA3.

Cost
