Mazda MAZDA3 vs. Hyundai Sonata Review

Performance
In terms of horsepower, the Hyundai packs quite a wallop and will knock the Mazda down a few rungs. However, keep in mind that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Handling
With their comparable turning circles, the Mazda MAZDA3 and the Sonata quite certainly handle almost the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Hyundai's engine is considerably more massive than the Mazda MAZDA3's. Keep in mind that larger engines may use more gasoline than smaller ones. The MAZDA3 could learn a lesson or two from the Sonata regarding torque. Torque equals pickup, and the Hyundai Sonata will have picked up and gone by the time the Mazda MAZDA3 finally gets moving.

Utility
Neither the Hyundai nor the Mazda MAZDA3 has a marked advantage in terms of seating capacity.

Convenience
You most definitely won't have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Mazda MAZDA3 than with the Hyundai Sonata, because both offer comparable mileage ranges.

Taller drivers will considerably enjoy the extra head room in the Hyundai Sonata's front cabin compared to the Mazda. The Hyundai Sonata provides more head- and leg-room to your passengers than the Mazda MAZDA3 does.

The Hyundai Sonata is tremendously more bulky than the Mazda MAZDA3. The MAZDA3's tank is roughly the same size as the Hyundai Sonata's, though the Hyundai Sonata's is somewhat larger. The Mazda and the Hyundai Sonata compete for the same parking spaces.

The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs almost the same to get the Hyundai Sonata to the dealership as the Mazda MAZDA3. There honestly isn't much of a difference in gas mileage here, but if you must know, the Mazda MAZDA3 is somewhat more economical than the Hyundai Sonata. In terms of MSRP, the Hyundai Sonata costs significantly more than the Mazda MAZDA3.

Warranty
The basic after-sale protection that comes with the Mazda MAZDA3 isn't quite as generous as the Hyundai Sonata's.
