The HHR is likely a better choice than the Mazda when it comes to hauling capacity, especially if you often need to carry a lot of cargo or large pets. Neither the Mazda MAZDA3 nor the HHR has a marked advantage in terms of seating capacity.

The Chevrolet HHR is likely to feel slightly sluggish because of its high horsepower-to-weight ratio.

Dimensions
The Chevrolet is quite a bit more ponderous than the Mazda MAZDA3. The Mazda MAZDA3's tank is approximately the same size as the Chevrolet HHR's, though the Chevrolet HHR's is a bit bigger. The HHR and the Mazda MAZDA3 compete for the same parking spaces.
