New 2009 Mazda MAZDA3

The Mazda3 is available as a four-door sedan in “i” or “s” trim levels, five-door hatchback in “s” trim, or as the fire-breathing Mazdaspeed3. The base 2.0-liter, 148-horsepower 4-cylinder engine delivers outstanding fuel economy. The 2.3-liter 156-horsepower 4-cylinder in “s” models delivers good low-end torque, solid passing power and is mated to a standard five-speed transmission.  Both four- and five-speed automatic transmissions are optional.  The Mazda3 is built on the same platform as the Volvo S40 and competes with the Honda Civic, Volkswagen Jetta and Saturn Astra.  Fuel economy for the Mazda3 is excellent with 22-24 mpg in the city and 28-32 mpg on the highway.

An available power sliding-glass one-touch moonroof lets the cool breezes into the cabin and features an interior sunshade. The standard tilt and telescoping steering column helps you find the perfect driving position. A standard 60/40 split fold-down rear seat creates voluminous interior space, especially in hatchback models. The available automatic climate control system allows both driver and passenger to set interior cabin temperature, and includes a pollen filter for a healthy cabin environment. The optional DVD-based navigation system offers detailed maps and voice interaction for the ultimate guidance in your journey. Anti-lock brakes and side-impact and side curtain airbags are now standard equipment.  Electronic Brake-Force Distribution and Brake Assist maximizes stopping power and prevents wheel lockup under hard braking. Available Xenon high-intensity discharge headlamps offer increased nighttime visibility and a clearer quantity of light than traditional halogen headlamps. Available Dynamic Stability Control helps to reduce understeer or oversteer by applying braking power and reducing engine power. The available Traction Control System helps to limit wheelspin during quick takeoffs.
