Mazda CX-9 vs. Ford Escape Hybrid Review

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs about the same to get the Ford Escape Hybrid to the dealership as the Mazda CX-9. With respect to gas mileage, the Ford beats the Mazda CX-9. The Mazda CX-9 uses a lot of gas compared to the Ford Escape Hybrid. The Ford Escape Hybrid isn't much less costly than the Mazda CX-9 as far as MSRP. The Escape Hybrid will save you a bundle at the pump every year compared to the Mazda. The Mazda CX-9 will cost you a lots_of_money in gasoline every year compared to the Ford.

Utility
Drivers with frequent child-duty might favor the Mazda CX-9 over the Escape Hybrid. Towing is significantly more the Mazda CX-9's forte than it is the Ford Escape Hybrid's.

Convenience
You will have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Mazda than with the Escape Hybrid.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Ford Escape Hybrid offers a bit more head room than the Mazda CX-9, there really isn't much of a difference. The Mazda offers more head- and leg-room to your passengers than the Ford Escape Hybrid does.

Dimensions
The Mazda CX-9 is substantially more bulky than the Ford Escape Hybrid. Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the CX-9 than the Ford Escape Hybrid because of its larger tank. The Ford Escape Hybrid fits in smaller parking spaces than the Mazda CX-9. The Ford Escape Hybrid's shorter wheelbase will give a more agile feel in daily traffic. On the flip side, the Mazda CX-9 is likely to have a smoother, more stable ride.

Performance
When it comes to horsepower, the Mazda CX-9 packs quite a punch and will knock the Escape Hybrid down a few rungs. However, note that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Handling
With their comparable turning radii, the Ford Escape Hybrid and the Mazda CX-9 definitely handle about the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Ford Escape Hybrid's engine is considerably smaller than the CX-9's. Bear in mind that a smaller engine usually has to work a little harder; on the flip side, smaller engines typically get better gas mileage. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the Mazda is tremendously more powerful than the Ford Escape Hybrid.

Warranty
The Mazda CX-9 and the Ford Escape Hybrid have the same basic warranty.
