2016 Lincoln Navigator L Overview
- Full-size SUV with seating for up to eight passengers
- More cargo room than the base Navigator
- New SYNC 3 redesigned touch screen control interface
The 2016 Lincoln Navigator L retains the same exterior features a styling as the previous model year but features new SYNC 3 technology on the inside.
There were no styling changes made to the Navigator’s exterior. The grille, like the 2015 model, is a boxier version of Lincoln’s winged grilled that is found on the rest of its vehicles. The L model has 222.3-inch length compared to 207.4 in the base model. 20-inch wheels are standard, with even larger 22-inch wheels optional.
The Navigator L features a 380-hp, twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 EcoBoost engine that is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The full-sized, extended version of the SUV comes standard with two-wheel drive, while a four-wheel drive system is optional. The Ecoboost engine improves the Navigator’s L’s fuel economy to 15/20 mpg city/highway when equipped with a 4x2 drivetrain (compared to 16/22 in the base). The Navigator L sports an adaptive suspension, which allows the driver to choose between three settings (Comfort, Normal, and Sport) depending on the situation. It also features an impressive towing capacity being able to haul up to 8,500 pounds.
The Navigator comes with seating for seven or eight passengers depending on your choice of captain’s chairs or a bench for the second-row. A power-folding third-row comes standard; it folds into the floor and allows for more cargo room when necessary. Perhaps the most significant additional feature provided by the Navigator L is the upgraded cargo volume behind the third row (18.1 inches to 42.6 inches). The Navigator L comes stocked with plenty of standard equipment, including heated/cooled front seats, leather upholstery, navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control, HD radio, power adjustable foot pedals, USB ports, and Bluetooth connectivity. It also comes standard with SYNC 3 technology which combines SYNC with MyLincoln Touch Features plus Lincoln’s next generation voice-activated technology.
Standard safety features include a blind spot warning system, rearview camera, antilock brakes, electronic stability control, and six airbags. The Navigator L also features Hill Start Assist and Hill Decent Control which automatically holds the brake on inclines to prevent backwards rolls and applies brake pressure as needed to descend grades at controlled speeds.
