2010 Lexus SC 430 Overview
Speed and luxury are capped by a retractable hardtop roof in the refined, yet sporty 2010 Lexus SC 430 convertible.

Providing the power is an all-aluminum, 288-horsepower, 4.3-liter V-8 with variable valve timing and double overhead camshafts. Power is sent through a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift feature. This powertrain achieves the Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle-II certification from the EPA, and delivers fuel economy ratings of 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. Power is lower than the Mercedes-Benz SL and Jaguar XK, but fuel economy is significantly superior to the Mercedes and competitive with the Jaguar.

A sleek exterior design gives the appearance of a hardtop coupe, but at the push of a button, the retractable hardtop pulls back from the cowl, and 25 seconds later the SC 430 is ready to bring the wind to your hair.

The interior of the SC 430 comes fully built. Semi-aniline leather dresses the seats, doors and console cover. Wood trim is laid into the center console, doors, instrument panel, shift knob and cup holders cover. Wood trim is also used on electric-retracting covers for the stereo head unit and navigation system. Ten-way power adjustable heated seats cradle the occupants, while an advanced climate control system adjusts airflow and temperature automatically to compensate for the top being either up or down.

To guide your way, the 2010 SC 430 convertible features the Lexus Navigation System, which incorporates Bluetooth connectivity and various other voice commands. Also available are XM NavTraffic and XM NavWeather subscription-based services to keep you informed with live updates on your road trip or commute.

Audio entertainment is provided by the Mark Levinson Premium Audio System. This nine-speaker, seven-channel stereo features active controls that adapt sound output to compensate for the top being up or down, so you get an optimal aural experience.

Antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist provide superb stopping power, while Vehicle Stability Control helps the driver maintain control during maneuvers that compromise grip. Lexus’s Adaptive Front-lighting System pivots the headlights to shine light into the corner when the driver turns. A big handful of airbags, including side and knee airbags, cushion occupants in a crash. The body and chassis balance creating a safe cockpit with absorbing and dispersing energy in crumple zones.

Sweet drop-top cruising meets fully-loaded luxury and power in the 2010 Lexus SC 430.
