- Two-row midsize luxury crossover
- Adds a standard backup camera for 2015
- F Sport models get sportier tuning and more aggressive styling
The five-seat 2015 Lexus RX 350 marches into the new model year with a few subtle tweaks, including a newly standard backup camera/display audio system.
The RX 350 carries with it the common thread that runs through all of Lexus’ update models, with a large version of the signature “spindle” grille adorning the front of the crossover. LED daytime running lights, fog lights, a roof integrated rear spoiler, and a power liftgate come standard. F Sport models get their own set of unique styling touches to make the RX 350 look more aggressive, such as a mesh backing to the front grille, larger 19-inch wheels, and unique bumpers.
Under the hood, the RX 350 features a 270-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 that makes 248 pounds-feet of torque. There are two transmission options, base models get a six-speed automatic while F Sport models feature an eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters. Front-wheel drive comes standard, with all-wheel drive optional (or standard on the F Sport). In addition, F Sport models also feature unique suspension/chassis tuning and performance oriented dampers for more responsive steering. Fuel economy figures check in at 18/24-26 mpg city/highway, depending on drivetrain choices.
Inside, the RX 350 gets high marks for its cargo capacity, with 40 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 80.3 cubic feet with the 40/20/40-split rear seats folded down. As previously mentioned, the standard features list has expanded for 2015 to include backup camera and a display audio system. Also standard are Bluetooth connectivity, USB/iPod port, HD radio, dual-zone automatic climate control, and 10-way power adjustable front seats. Leather upholstery is optional, along with heated and ventilated front seats. There are also several available technologies as well, including a Mark Levinson premium sound system, dual-screen rear entertainment system, navigation, and a head-up display that projects important information on the windshield for the driver to see.
The 2015 RX 350 takes safety seriously, with 10 airbags, antilock brakes, and electronic stability system, and an emergency communication system with a one year subscription all standard. Optional safety equipment includes a blind spot warning system, dynamic cruise control, a pre-collision warning system, and front/rear parking sensors.
