- Lexus’ flagship sedan
- Offered in regular and long wheelbase (460 L) versions
- Small technology updates for 2015
The 2015 Lexus LS 460 is one of two models in the LS series that represent the flagship sedans in the Japanese luxury automaker’s lineup.
Up front, the LS 460 wears a large version of Lexus’ signature visual cue these days, the spindle grille. The LS 460 is a bit boxier than the other Lexus passenger cars of late, with a very straight beltline and small chrome accents that run across the lower part of the doors giving it a flattened out look in profile. 18-inch wheels are standard, with 19-inch wheels optional. Also available are xenon HID headlights, LED headlights, and a power moonroof.
Under the hood, the LS 460 has a worthy engine for a big luxurious sedan, a 386-hp, 4.6-liter V-8 engine that comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and takes premium gas. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive optional (opting for AWD lowers the engine’s power output to 360-hp).
For 2015, the LS 460 gets a few updates on the technology side. The rearview camera display now includes guidelines and the optional Lexus Enform Remote system, which connects to your smartphone via an app and allows owners to start the engine, lock and unlock the doors, and locate the vehicle. The luxurious LS 460 offers plenty of standard features in its cabin as the price would suggest. A navigation system with a 12.3-inch screen is standard, along with a Remote Touch controller in the center console, Bluetooth connectivity, power front seats, leather upholstery, and dual-zone automatic climate control. A Mark Levinson premium audio system, Blu-ray rear seat entertainment system, heated/cooled front seats, and a power rear sunshade are optional.
Standard safety features include a rearview camera, eight airbags, antilock brakes, electronic stability control, adaptive front lighting, and Safety Connect which offers automatic collision notification, stolen vehicle location, and enhanced roadside assistance (free one-year trial with new car purchase). The LS 460 is also available with many of the latest safety technology innovations, including a blind spot warning system, dynamic radar cruise control, and an advanced pre-collision system that can detect both cars and pedestrians and apply the brakes if needed to avoid a collision.
