2010 Lexus IS-F Overview
Power to thrill, speed to chill and luxury to instill comfort all describe the world-class high-performance sports sedan that is the 2010 Lexus IS-F.

Blistering performance is the responsibility and result of the 416-horsepower, 5.0-liter V-8 installed in the IS-F. A dual-intake system works with variable valve timing to generate optimal engine performance at all speeds. Power is sent through an eight-speed automatic transmission to a Torsen® limited slip rear differential and on to the rear wheels. The IS-F achieves fuel economy ratings of 16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway, which is better than the equally-powered BMW M3 while lower than the lesser-powered Audi S4.

Leather-appointed seats with 10-way power adjustability up front are excellent standard features, as the power moonroof. A 13-speaker sound system with six-CD in-dash changer comprises the excellent Lexus Premium Audio System, also standard. A two-tone color theme and tasteful applications of the “F” badging decorate the interior. For audiophiles, there is an available Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound system with its 14 speakers and ten amplifier channels. A DVD-based navigation system with a touch-screen and conversational voice command operation tops the options list.

Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management is the mastermind of all dynamic safety systems, including Vehicle Stability Control, antilock brakes, brake-force distribution and brake assist. VDIM utilizes this vast suite of tools to help the driver maintain control when at all possible, so as to drastically reduce the possibility of accidents. The VDIM system in the IS-F is calibrated to deliver a more exhilarating driving experience; drivers can choose between Normal, Sport and Snow driving modes when they want to cruise, speed or tip-toe down the pavement.

The available Pre-Collision System includes Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, which maintains a pre-set following distance behind the vehicle ahead and readies the seatbelts and brakes for impact when necessary. The available Lexus Enform™ system with Safety Connect™ provides useful satellite communications in the event of a vehicle impact or theft. A full set of airbags, including front-side, front knee and two-row head airbags joins a great safety structure; the structurally similar IS 250 gets Four- and Five-Star impact ratings from NHTSA.

It has been said that with great power comes great responsibility, and so the 2010 Lexus IS-F blends performance with a robust safety net, as well as luxurious comfort.
