2013 Lexus IS 350C Overview
The 2013 Lexus IS 350c is the convertible version of the IS 350 sport sedan, and offers plenty of excitement with a powerful V-6 and a power folding hardtop to let the rays in.
There are not many changes to the IS 350c for the 2013 model year. The optional touch-screen navigation system gets an updated version of Lexus’ Enform communication system that connects the IS 350c to your smartphone and allows the use of apps like Pandora, Facebook, and Yelp.
While they share much of the same model name, it’s easy to tell the IS 350c apart from its sedan counterpart. It has two doors opposed to the four found on the sedan, and the roof drops off rapidly after it passes the front windows giving it a more coupe-like appearance. We actually prefer the look of the IS 350c with the power hardtop folded down, which it does in 21 seconds at the touch of a button.
Under the hood, the IS 350c is equipped with a powerful 306-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 that generates 277 pounds-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic with paddle shifters is the only transmission option, there is no manual. There is also no available all-wheel drive like there is on the sedan, the convertible is purely real-wheel drive. Fuel economy ratings mirror the sedan; 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.
Inside, the IS 350c has a few more unique features, like anti-glare gauges that are designed to be readable even when in the sunlight. The audio and climate systems also automatically adjust their settings when the top is lowered, accounting for changes in temperature and wind noise. The IS 350c can seat up to four passengers, although there isn’t much space to stretch out in the backseat. The IS 350c offers a long list of standard features including 10-way powered front seats, USB/iPod connectivity, Bluetooth, and leather upholstery. The standard dual-zone automatic climate control system can also detect pollutants in the air and switches to recirculating mode until the outside air is once again cleaner. Optional are a navigation system that accepts voice as well as touch-screen commands, the Enform system, and heated/ventilated front seats.
The IS 350c features Lexus’ Safety Connect service as standard equipment, which will automatically notify the authorities when an accident is detected. A free one year subscription is included with a new IS 350c. Also standard are six airbags, including driver and passenger knee airbags, an electronic stability system, and all-disc antilock brakes.
