2013 Lexus IS 350 Overview
The 2013 Lexus IS 350 ramps up the excitement with powerful V-6 and plenty of sportiness, combined with the usual interior comfort and refinement expected from a Lexus.
There are not many changes to the IS 350 for the 2013 model year. The optional touch-screen navigation system gets an updated version of Lexus’ Enform communication system that connects the IS 350 to your smartphone and allows the use of apps like Pandora, Facebook, and Yelp.
From the outside, the IS 350 looks pretty much identical to the IS 250 which can be deceiving – it makes the IS 350 something of a sleeper car, since it has almost fifty-percent more power than its smaller sibling. It does get a few added standard exterior features, including xenon high-intensity discharge headlights and LED daytime running lights. 17-inch alloy wheels are standard, while 18-inch wheels and rain-sensing wipers are optional.
Under the hood is where the IS 350 shows its character, with a powerful 306-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 that generates 277 pounds-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters are standard (there is no manual transmission option). For those who live in areas with tougher weather and climate conditions, all-wheel drive is offered. Fuel economy ratings check in at 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway (26 mpg on the highway with AWD).
Inside, the IS 350 offers seating for up to five passengers although backseat room can gets tight pretty quickly (we wouldn’t suggest carrying more than four passengers for longer trips). The IS 350, in addition to offering plenty of performance, offers a long list of standard features including 10-way powered front seats, a power moonroof, USB/iPod connectivity, Bluetooth, and leather upholstery. The standard dual-zone automatic climate control system can also detect pollutants in the air and switches to recirculating mode until the outside air is once again cleaner. Optional are a navigation system that accepts voice as well as touch-screen commands, the Enform system, and heated/ventilated front seats.
Safety is not an afterthought in the IS 350, which features Lexus’ Safety Connect service as standard equipment. In the event of an accident, Safety Connect will automatically notify the authorities, and a one year subscription comes with the purchase of a new IS 350. Also standard are eight airbags, an electronic stability system, and all-disc antilock brakes.
