2011 Lexus HS 250h Overview
Going green has never felt better with the efficient and luxurious 2011 Lexus HS 250h hybrid sedan.
The 2011 Lexus HS 250h comes with a 147-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that is mated to dual electric motors. The first motor serves as a starter and a generator, while the second motor is the propulsion motor and is rated at 141-horsepower. Total gas-engine and hybrid motor output is limited to a total of 187 horsepower. Regenerative braking feeds electricity to the nickel metal hydride battery pack, which in turn powers the electric motors when needed, providing four driving modes: Power, Normal, EV, and Eco. This hybrid system delivers 35-mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.
When Lexus says that the 2011 HS 250h is an eco-friendly car, they are not just taking about the emissions. Thirty percent of the cabin and trunk incorporate ecological plastics, or bioplastic, which produces 20 percent less carbon dioxide emissions during manufacturing than normal plastic.
Outside, LED brake and taillights provide excellent visual cues pointing to the modernity of the 2011 Lexus HS 250h. 17-inch alloy wheels are standard, with 18-inch cogs optional. The HS 250h is loosely related to the Toyota Prius, but sticks to more conventional sedan styling, and it simply looks more upscale.
One great thing about the 2011 Lexus HS 250h: you get a Lexus interior. That means that you are in store for a luxurious, technology-driven, and quiet interior. A ten-speaker stereo with six-CD changer, USB/Bluetooth connectivity, and XM Satellite Radio covers all your audio needs. An optional Mark Levinson® surround sound system puts lots of icing on this tasty eco-cake. Automatic dual-zone climate control with rear seat AC vents, an air filter, and a moonroof enhance comfort and ambience. An optional head-up display lets the driver focus their line of sight on the road while assessing vital performance information.
On the premium model, seats get a heat function and premium leather skins, the dashboard is upgraded with wood trim and the passenger seat gets a power lumbar adjustment. Rain-sensing wipers enhance the luxury functionality of this smooth hybrid.
Lots of steel provides an excellent safety cage and with a ten-airbag suite the 2011 Lexus HS 250h is heavily fortified. Electronically controlled antilock brakes and brake assist, coupled with a stability control system, keeps the driver in control and the HS 250h on the road. After impact, the LexusInform™ with SafetyConnect™ system (requires the optional navigation system, one-year trial subscription included) provides collision notification and roadside assistance communications.
Just because it’s a luxury sedan doesn’t mean that the efficient and tech-savvy 2011 Lexus HS 250h can’t do its share to help the environment.
