2009 Lexus GX 470 Overview
First-class style and grace are no more evident for the midsize SUV class than in the 2009 Lexus GX 470. Continuing the automaker’s tradition of exuding refinement into every vehicle off the assembly line, this luxury model offers much for both the on- and off-road driver.

The GX 470 comes highly equipped in two sterling trim levels: base and Sport. Powered by a 4.7-liter V-8 engine that produces a robust 263-horsepower and 323 pound-feet of torque, the standard five-speed automatic distributes even strength to a four-wheel-drive system for smooth gear shifting. Added features to aid drivers include: Downhill Assist Control to keep your speed in check when decreasing in elevation, Hill-start Assist Control to keep the vehicle stationary while starting on a steep incline or slippery surface, and Rear Adjustable Height Control to provide the ability to raise or lower the rear height nearly 3 inches for increased off-road capabilities.

Lexus places the GX 470 between the RX 350 and LX 570 in its product line, with comfortable interior room for up to eight passengers. It competes on the same midsize SUV level with the Volvo XC90 and Lincoln Navigator. While car buyers won't find the most fuel-efficient cars on the road among SUVs, 14 MPG city and 18 MPG highway is average fuel economy sure to handle any range of driving distance.

Interior elegance in the GX 470 is sure to please today’s car buyers with offerings of fine leather on the seats and well-finished wood trims on the dash and steering wheel. The Digital Lexus Link system, which connects to a communications network for driving and safety assistance — similar to GM's OnStar system— is now available. Additional amenities include: dual-zone automatic climate control, in-dash six-CD changer and an easy-to-use navigation system.

An impressive safety record follows the GX 470. Side-impact front seat airbags, side curtain airbags for the first and second rows of seating, electronic stability system, antilock brakes, and roll-sensing side curtain airbags for first and second rows come standard. Also offered is a Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System that automatically adjusts the front and rear stabilizer bars to enhance handling under a variety of normal and emergency conditions.

The 2009 Lexus GX 470 furthers the automaker’s long-lasting tradition for a quiet, comfortable ride with all of the luxury amenities that will undoubtedly have those you share the road with take full notice.
