Lexus GS 450h vs. Volvo S80 Review

Performance
With that kind of horsepower, both the Lexus GS 450h and the Volvo S80 are veritable sportscars.

Handling
With its tighter turning circle, the GS 450h is definitely nimbler than the Volvo, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; however, note that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The S80's engine is quite a bit more massive than the Lexus GS 450h's. Remember that more sizeable engines may use more gasoline than smaller ones. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the Volvo is substantially more powerful than the Lexus GS 450h.

Utility
Neither the Lexus nor the S80 has a marked advantage as far as seating capacity.

Comfort
While the rear of the Lexus offers a bit more head- and leg-room than the Volvo S80, there frankly isn't much of a difference.

Dimensions
The Lexus GS 450h is somewhat heavier than the Volvo S80. The Lexus GS 450h's tank is roughly the same size as the Volvo S80's, though the S80's is slightly larger. The GS 450h and the Volvo S80 compete for the same parking spaces.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs roughly the same to get the Volvo S80 to the dealership as the Lexus GS 450h. The Lexus is significantly costlier than the S80 as far as MSRP.

Overview
The Volvo S80 and the Lexus GS 450h have the same basic warranty.
