Lexus GS 450h vs. BMW 550 Review

Neither the Lexus GS 450h nor the BMW 550 has a marked advantage regarding seating capacity.

Dimensions
The Lexus is considerably heavier than the BMW. The GS 450h's tank is almost the same size as the BMW 550's, though the BMW 550's is slightly bigger. The GS 450h and the 550 compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
The BMW 550's fuel tank will need to be replenished more often than the unit in the Lexus GS 450h.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs almost the same to get the BMW to the dealership as the Lexus GS 450h. Producing an exact gas mileage evaluation is so tricky that some think not even the federal government can do it, but it looks as though the Lexus GS 450h is the winner when it comes to fuel economy. The GS 450h won't save you much money at the pump compared to the BMW. The Lexus isn't much less costly than the 550 as far as MSRP. The BMW 550 will cost you a bundle in gasoline every year compared to the GS 450h.

Handling
With their similar turning radii, the Lexus GS 450h and the BMW 550 definitely handle about the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The BMW's engine is substantially bigger than the Lexus GS 450h's. Keep in mind that more sizeable engines may use more gasoline than smaller ones. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the BMW is substantially more powerful than the Lexus GS 450h. The BMW 550 packs quite a wallop compared to the Lexus GS 450h when it comes to torque, which is the force that lets you accelerate quickly.

Comfort
Taller drivers will considerably enjoy the extra head room in the BMW 550's front cabin compared to the Lexus. While the rear of the BMW provides a bit more head- and leg-room than the GS 450h, there frankly isn't much of a difference.
