New 2010 Lexus GS 450h

Advanced hybrid powertrain efficiency, exquisite build quality and luxurious appointments mix to create the 2010 Lexus GS 450h.

A strong 3.5-liter V-6 is combined with two electric motors and an electronically-controlled continuously variable transmission in the GS 450h’s version of Lexus Hybrid Drive. Power for the electric motors comes from a 288-volt nickel metal hydride battery pack. This combination delivers V-8 performance, to the tune of a combined 340 horsepower, with near V-6 fuel economy. Fuel is delivered through dual fuel injection, meaning intake manifold and combustion chamber direct injection.

This powertrain delivers 22 mpg city and 25 mpg highway ratings, while achieving the Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle II rating from the EPA. Fuel economy does not compare favorably with other hybrid sedans like the Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid, as the hybrid powertrain is calibrated to deliver more exhilarating performance. The powertrain controls feature driver-selectable Power, Normal and Snow modes to focus on acceleration, everyday smoothness, or relaxed throttle response for low-traction driving. The hybrid system can also run in gas-only, electric-only and dual-drive modes.

Regency perforated leather-trimmed power front seats feature heat and ventilation. Dazzling wood trim, polished metal and leather are draped around every corner create a delightful visual experience. Once you are comfortably situated, reach for the Lexus Premium Audio System with its 10 speakers, six-CD changer, USB media device connectivity and Bluetooth connectivity. An available 330-watt Mark Levinson Premium Sound System delivers a euphoric aural experience through 14 speakers, and the seven-inch display screen can display DVD movies when the vehicle is parked. The Lexus navigation system features casual language voice commands, so you can speak normally and get directions easily.

The Adaptive Variable Suspension system offers Normal and Sports settings for cruise or spirited ride tuning of the shocks.
