As far as horsepower, the Lexus packs quite a punch and will knock the Volvo S60 down a few rungs. However, note that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Drivetrain
The Lexus ES 350 has a more massive engine than the Volvo S60. Keep in mind that smaller engines are often cheaper to fix, but a smaller engine usually has to work a little harder.

Neither the Volvo S60 nor the ES 350 has a marked advantage with respect to seating capacity.
