2009 Kia Borrego Overview

Named after a desert in Southern California, the Borrego enters the mid-size SUV segment with many of the same features as its competitors, but with more power and better fuel efficiency. Up against the Ford Explorer, Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota 4Runner, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Honda Pilot, the Borrego starts under $27,000.
Speaking of power, the Borrego has plenty of muscle under the hood with either a 3.8-liter, 276-horsepower V6, or 4.6-liter, 337-horsepower V8 engine. That power provides up to 7,500 pounds of towing capacity for those who like to haul their heavy toys. What’s even more impressive is the fuel economy that goes along with such raw power. The V6 gets 17 MPG city and 21 MPG highway, while the V8 gets 15/22 city/highway—the best fuel efficiency in its class. The 4WD model gets 16/21 and 15/20 for both the V6 and V8.
The Borrego is a body-on-frame SUV yielding a smoother ride then most truck-on-frame SUV’s in its class. There are three rows of seats to accommodate seven people comfortably with a 60/40 second-row split and a 50/50 third-row split. If you’re on the fence and aren’t quite sure about the Kia’s durability, a 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty is included to give you peace of mind.
Standard features include, CD/MP3/ SIRIUS® Satellite Radio audio system, 6-speakers, USB-auxiliary input jack, back-up warning system, 8-way manual driver’s seat and 17-inch alloy wheels. 18-inch alloy or chrome wheels, Infinity MP3/ SIRIUS® Satellite Radio audio system, 10-speaker audio with in-dash 6-CD changer, navigation system, rear-seat entertainment system, push button start, dual-zone climate control, trip computer and 8-way power driver’s seat are optional.
