Available in two trim levels – the solid LX and the uplevel EX – the Optima features two powerful engines. The 2.4 liter inline 4-cylinder engine produces 162 horsepower with ample acceleration, mated to a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission with Sportmatic® manual shifting capability. The available 2.7 liter V6 engine is a much better choice, with 185 horsepower and ample amounts of torque for passing and highway merging. The V6 is available only with the 5-speed automatic transmission.

Interior amenities include automatic temperature control for a cool cabin environment. An available Infinity® AM/FM/MP3/Cassette audio system with in-dash 6-disc CD changer and 6 speakers offers every conceivable audio format and excellent sound quality. Available power-adjustable pedals make it easy for drivers of all sizes to enjoy the Optima. Available heated leather seats with 8-way power driver’s seat and 4-way power passenger’s seat offer excellent support and toasty comfort. Optional aluminum interior trim offers

Safety features include optional 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with Brake Assist for improved stopping power and resistance to wheel lockup during hard braking. A total of 6 airbags, including dual front airbags, dual front seat-mounted side airbags, and full-length side curtain airbags, keep front and rear passengers protected in a collision. Standard Electronic Stability Control improves directional stability of the vehicle during emergency maneuvers, while Traction Control limits wheelspin on slippery roads or during quick takeoffs. A standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System alerts the driver is any of the tires are under-inflated.

Offering abundant safety features, fuel-efficent engines, and convenient amenities, the 2008 Kia Optima is a compact sedan that’s big on value.
