2011 Kia Forte Overview
Currently in its second year of production, the 2011 Kia Forte offers amazing fuel economy, a fantastic warranty, and a wide array of safety features all under an affordable umbrella. And new for this year, the Forte is available as a stylish five-door hatchback as well.
(The Kia Forte is also available as a coupe, which is overviewed separately on this site, see Kia Forte Koup.)
After replacing the Spectra in Kia’s sedan lineup last year, the fresh and sporty Forte is available in three trim levels – LX, EX and SX. Kia refers to the new hatchback as a five-door vehicle, and it offers a different look for those who desire a sportier appearance. LX and EX trims are powered by a 156-horsepower, 2.0-liter inline-four while the SX trim gets a 173-horsepower, 2.4-liter inline-four. For 2011, both engines can be mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission with available auto-manual mode. Those who are constantly on the go will appreciate the Forte’s fuel efficiency, which rings in at 22-27 mpg in the city and 31-36 mpg on the highway.
The 2011 Kia Forte competes with other compacts like the Ford Focus, Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. The Forte matches its competitors in the power department, but where it really excels is price and warranty. Its base MSRP of just under $15,000 (not including destination) and the accompanying 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty make the Forte a great value.
Exterior options on the Forte include standard 15-ince wheels, while larger 16- and 17-inch tires with alloy wheels are optional. A sport-tuned suspension is available for added driving engagement; optional heated mirrors with turn-signal indicators, a rear spoiler, and power sunroof with tilt functionality all add substance to the 2011 Kia Forte.
The Forte is pretty spacious for a compact car, with seating for give and 14.7 cubic feet of trunk space on the sedan, which is more than you get in a midsize Toyota Camry. Hatchback models of the Forte expand cargo space even more, all the way up to 19.4 cubic feet. Standard features on the Forte include satellite radio, USB and auxiliary audio input jack, Bluetooth® connectivity, and air conditioning. An EcoMinder fuel efficiency monitor is standard with all automatic transmission equipped Fortes and tracks your fuel economy to make sure you’re getting the most out of each tank of gas. Other options include a navigation system, push button start, automatic climate control, and an auto dimming rear view mirror.
The 2011 Kia Forte takes safety seriously. Front and side-impact airbags for the front seats as well as side curtain airbags keep interior occupants safe in a collision, while other safety features like all-disc antilock brakes, an electronic stability system, traction control, electronic brake-force distribution and tire pressure monitoring system keep you out of one. These features are standard on all Fortes.
The fuel-efficient 2011 Kia Forte is designed to save you money at the pump and at the dealership, without compromising on interior quality and style making it one of the best values on the road.
